Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for ways to help the church with your time and talents?  There's always plenty to do at our Church, as well as Outreach projects that help us to extend God's love beyond our walls.  Below you will find our current volunteer opportunities.  Your help is appreciated in advance!

Advent Devotional Help Needed:
Members of the Worship Task Team want to get an early start on assembling an Advent Devotional booklet for this year.  We are asking people to consider and submit reflections on one or more of the following ideas:  favorite Advent or Christmas memories; times and places in which you felt the Holy Spirit moving during Advent; reflections on Bible passages, which may include lectionary texts from the Advent season (which Pastor Tadd will have available on request); family traditions or recipes from the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Blueberry Recipe Booklet:
Dottie Burke is putting together a small Blueberry Recipe Booklet to sell at next year's Blueberry Festival.  Send Dottie any blueberry recipes you want to share.  She is looking for blueberry jam or jelly recipes as well as things like smoothies, cold fruit desserts, salads, etc.

Crop Walk Team Leader needed:
Each year some two million CROP Hunger Walkers, volunteers, and sponsors put their hearts and soles in motion, raising over $16 million per year to help end hunger and poverty around the world and in their own communities. For many years our church has sponsored a team of walkers, led by Lori Ingraham. This year (2010) Lori has stepped down so we need a new leader. The church Outreach Committee is working hard to find someone or a task team; please contact Thecia Hancewicz (527.6498 or e.hancewicz@comcast.net) if you have any interest.

Church World Service coordinates this project with partners in the U.S. and around the world to build interfaith and intercultural coalitions to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice. Church World Service is people reaching out to neighbors in need near and far--not with a hand out, but a hand up.  So, if you’re looking to help build a better world—a world were there’s enough for all—you’ve come to the right place!
